The forthcoming 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid was presented at the 2018 New York International Show. It will arrive in three trim levels and most importantly, with the hybrid drivetrain. According to Honda, mileage will be around 55 mpg in the city.
The 2019 Insight Hybrid slots between the Civic and Accord models and it sports a modern and appealing exterior design. Moreover, it takes a wide appearance and the interior is looking good. Fun fact, Honda Insight was the very first hybrid car that came to the North American soil. Besides the hybrid drivetrain, the new 2019 Insight will arrive with plenty of different improvements.
2019 Honda Insight Hybrid offers a smooth and quiet drive
The all-new 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid will share the platform with the Civic model. The ride quality is on another level and generally, this car offers a smooth and quiet drive. Started as a four-door hatchback, Insight is now more like a four-door sedan that looks gorgeous. Like most of the company’s models, Insight Hybrid also sports angular headlights and the aggressive front bumper. The front grille is larger on the 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid than on the previous model and the grille holds a “flying wing” design. The side profile shows us more muscular bodywork and nice sharp beltlines.
The rear end suffers the biggest changes as the previous models were looking like a real hatchback. Now, the styling is a typical sedan, and it looks very modern. The roof will still be as sleek as before, on the other hand, this sedan lacks tailgate. The base model comes with the 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights. The 17-inch alloys are standard on Touring models.
2019 Honda Insight Hybrid interior has plenty of standard features
Some of the Honda’s previous models are having a great impact on the 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid. Plenty of shapes and cues are taken from the company’s established cars, mostly Civic’s. The cabin looks modern and sporty at the same time and Honda claims that this model will be the roomiest in the segment. The dashboard adds an A/C vents and below them, you can find an 8-inch touchscreen.
The design of basically everything looks clean and upscale. While there is plenty of standard features, those premium one such as leather seats, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are all optional. Safety rating is great thanks to the Honda Sensing that includes the latest safety and driver-assistance systems. The battery pack is placed under the rear seats so nothing will change in that department.
2019 Honda Insight Hybrid engine and fuel consumption
The approaching 2019 Honda Insight Hybrid comes with a 1.5-liter Atkinson engine and a pair of electric motors. A lithium-ion battery pack is available as well. This hybrid output is producing 151 HP and 197 lb-ft of torque.
According to Japanese carmaker, this model will gain at least 50 mpg combined but this information is not official yet. Sadly, no automatic transmission is in the offer as the Insight Hybrid will use a manual gearbox exclusively.
