From the latest information, the 2020 Honda Accord Type R will get a much stronger engine compared with the previous models. The 10th-gen Accord is currently offered with a 1.5-liter engine that comes as standard. This type of engine gives to this sports car 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. However, the optional one that is available in the upper trim levels comes with a 2.0-liter that delivers 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also seen on the model Civic Type R with the much better output of 306 HP and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The next-gen Accord will get the same 2.0-liter with the boosted output. However, exact numbers are not yet available, but we can expect that 2020 Honda Accord Type R gets better output than the Civic Type R model. The Civic Type R model is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 169 mph. However, we can expect that new Accord Type R to make the same sprint in around 5.5 seconds with the 165-mph top speed.
2020 Honda Accord Type R Price and Release Date
The 2020 Honda Accord Type R sports model will not be a cheap car. We can expect the same price range as the outgoing model. Furthermore, the outgoing model has a price of $34,900 for the Touring trim. In this price is included navigation, Honda Sensing, LED lights, heated seats, etc.
So, with the new Type R and features that are available, the price may be somewhere around $43,000 to $47,000 depending on the trim levels. As for the release date, we can expect this model to debut at the end of this year. The closest competitor to this model is Ford Fusion Sport.
