Do you remember or know about the Honda Prelude 2 + 2 sports car that came out on the bodywork version of the Honda Accord, but did it have a more aggressive sporty look and sportiness? The American Internet has begun to circulate rumors that Honda is preparing the Honda Prelude Concept, which should be presented at the end of 2018 with a possible serial production in 2020.
Rumors say that the new version of Prelude will not have an Accord platform that is designed for front-wheel drive. The new model will have a longer wheelbase, and will share some of the features of the legendary Honda S2000. If the rumors turn out to be accurate, the new Prelude will come with a rear wheel drive and an expected price in the US market of about $ 30,000.
The Honda Prelude coupe has begun a market career based on the Civic model. The original Honda Prelude SN, produced from 1978 to 1982, was built on a similar principle as the main rival, the popular Toyota Celica, which had already won the second generation. Like all future versions, the original Prelude was offered with a four-cylinder engine with 72 horsepower. Although the final fifth generation has reached 200 horsepower, the most generous and most attractive of all is certainly the third generation, aggressive wedge design, equipped with an unusual AWS steering system on all wheels.
Honda Prelude Concept – External Body Parts and Inner Cosmetic Changes
This Honda Prelude Concept was designed by Masato Nakano and, apart from its special design, it also offered control over all wheels, Honda called it 4WS. Thanks to this system, Prelude was the fastest in the race, but it was slightly faster and much more expensive. The drive is excellent. Long bonnet, very spacious cabin in the front seats and behind the two small seats (for children and things). Shelves are very comfortable. Management is paramount (especially when working with 4ws – all four wheels). The luggage compartment is extremely large.
Most drivers like to have a lot of extra equipment in their vehicle. The latest Prelude Concept will meet the wishes and requirements of potential homeowners this time. Namely, air conditioning, cruise control, leather seats, electrically adjustable seats, fog lights and many other “gadgets” will be available in the new model. In the Prelude, the ALB system will be installed, which will be one of the interesting accessories in the equipment.
Underneath the Hood of the Honda Prelude Concept
The Honda Prelude Concept kept its original engine, but another was added to the rear axle. Both engines are 2.2-liter DOHC VTEC units with 200 hp and 211 Nm of torque. According to the owner, the car now has an almost perfect weight distribution of 50:50 and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 seconds. The interior remained unchanged, except the engine behind the rear seats. The seller said that the car has a special climate. It is a great convenience when behind your back is the 2.2-liter VTEC.
